Important: You need to have full access rights on the mailbox you wish to add to your profile.To know how to get full access permissions, read: How to give a user full access to another user’s mailbox. Under the Info header, click on the Account Settings button and then on the Account Settings in the list. In the E-mail tab, make sure your account. Please Note

Once a user has been given access to a mailbox, it should appear automatically in about 30 minutes. You should first check to make sure you have access to the mailbox before trying to add it manually:

  1. Open Outlook in your web browser ( http://email.mc3.edu/ )
  2. Click on your name in the upper right corner and choose 'Open another mailbox...'
  3. Enter the name of the mailbox and press OK

If you cannot open the mailbox, please request access to it by emailing helpdesk@mc3.edu . If you can open the mailbox but do not see it in Outlook automatically, even after restarting your computer, please follow the steps below.

1. Click on the File tab
2. Select Account Settings --> Account Settings...
3. Double click your name
4. Click on More Settings... in the lower right corner
5. Click on the Advanced tab and the Add... button.
6. Enter the name of the mailbox. For example, if you want to open the Helpdesk@mc3.edu mailbox, type Helpdesk and press OK.
7. The mailbox should appear on the 'Open these additional mailboxes' list.
8. Click OK , Next , and then Finish and the mailbox will be added.
9. Restart Outlook and expand the mailbox on the left side.

To add an additional mailbox to your Folder List using MicrosoftOutlook 2010, 2007, or 2003, first add sharing permissionsto the mailbox and folders you wish to share. You can share mailboxesbetween different types of Exchange accounts, such as apersonal mailbox and a departmental mailbox. To add a mailbox to yourFolder List, follow the steps below.

Note: The mailboxes in each account must be on thesame Exchange server. Additionally, the instructions in this documentassume that you have permission to access the additional account forthe mailbox you wish to add. Share the additional mailbox

To add sharing permissions for yourself to the account mailbox youwish to add to your Folder List:

  1. Log into the mailbox you wish to add to your folder list.
  2. In Outlook 2010, at the bottom of the navigation pane, click theFolder List icon.

    In Outlook 2007 and 2003, from theGo menu, choose Folder List.

  3. In Outlook 2010, in the Folder List, right-click the email addressthat corresponds to the account you wish to add sharing permissions to(e.g., automotive@iupui.edu), and then choose FolderPermissions.

    In Outlook 2007 and 2003, in the Folder List, right-click the nameof the mailbox (e.g., Mailbox - Automotive), and chooseChange Sharing Permissions... or Sharing....

  4. In the window that appears, click the Permissions tab,and then click Add....
  5. Under 'Show Names from the:' in the Add Users window,select Global Address List.
  6. To search for your name, enter it in the field in Last Name,First Name format.
  7. Select your name. Then, under 'Add Users', click Add->, and then OK.
  8. Select your name. Under 'Permissions' or 'Other', check Foldervisible.
  9. Click Apply, then OK.

Share folders

To add sharing permissions to the folders you wish to share (i.e.,the Inbox folder of the Automotive mailbox):

  1. While still logged into the other mailbox(e.g., Automotive), right-click the Inbox folder andchoose Properties.
  2. In the Inbox Properties window that appears, clickthe Permissions tab, and then click Add....
  3. Under 'Show Names from the:' in the Add Users windowthat appears, select Global Address List.
  4. To search for your name, enter it in the field in Last Name,First Name format.
  5. Select your name. Under 'Add Users', click Add->, and then OK.
  6. In the Inbox Properties window, on thePermissions tab, select the person's name.

    In Office 2010 and 2007, use the Permission Level drop-down box toassign the appropriate permissions (e.g., Reviewer, Author, Editor).

    In Outlook 2003, under 'Permissions', check Foldervisible.

  7. Click Apply, then OK.
  8. Repeat steps 1 through 7 for any additional folder you wish to add(e.g., Sent Items).
