1. InDesign layout options
InDesign gives the possibility to see all your pages in the same file. It’s very useful especially when you want to set up a layout for facing pages. It’s easy to use the same design for many pages and visualize all of them at the same time.
So the first thing to do is to create a new document: File > New > Document (Ctrl+N) and select the format that you need for your design. When you want to add more pages go to the Pages button and press Create new page.
2. It’s compatible with Adobe Illustrator
When you work with InDesign, it’s super easy to import shapes and illustrations directly from Adobe Illustrator. If you want to edit them, InDesign helps you with that as well. How do you actually do that? Just drag and drop your beautiful Illustrator file into your InDesign file. After that you can use the same commands as in Illustrator to modify the shapes as you wish.
3. Creative image masks
You can draw any shape you want, and place any image that you like inside it, just by using drag and drop. If the image does not fit in perfectly, choose Fill frame proportionally. And your image will take the desired shape.
4. You can play with typography
Typography is very important for any publication. InDesign gives you many ways to play with text and arrange it in creative ways.
Use ellipse and hold Shift to create a perfect circle. Select Type Tool and click inside the circle and the shape will be transformed into a text frame. Feel free to use any shape you want to experiment with typography for your publication.
